Emily Ayala

Founder, CEO, Senior Construction, Design and Project Manager for North San Diego County

Emily’s path to becoming one of San Diego’s most trusted outdoor builders is anything but typical, and that’s exactly what makes her exceptional.

With decades of experience in real estate, luxury service, customer experience, retail, travel, and small business, Emily brings a sophisticated understanding of both homeowners and lifestyle design. She holds an AA in Animal Science from Bakersfield College, but her passion for outdoor spaces led her into the world of hardscape and landscape design. She began her construction career at a large Southern California outdoor remodeling firm, where she gained hands-on experience managing complex projects. After six years, and driven by her commitment to transparency, craftsmanship, and customer care, Emily launched SD Premier Outdoor. Within a short period, her company earned a reputation for quality, integrity, and a client-focused approach that stands out in the San Diego market.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys riding her horse for fun and in competitions. She lives with her husband in San Marcos and brings that same strength, discipline, and passion into every project she touches.

Dustin Nichols

Construction, Design and Project Manager for South San Diego County

Dustin is a founding member of SD Premier Outdoor. With more than 25 years of hands-on experience in residential renovations, Dustin brings a rare blend of technical expertise, design-minded problem solving, and steady leadership to every project. Born and raised in San Diego, he proudly carries forward a three-generation family legacy in construction, and that deep-rooted background shows in the integrity and precision he approaches each job and the pride in the finished result. And if you think he looks familiar, you’re not imagining it! More than a few people have told Dustin he’s an exceptionally convincing Chuck Norris look-alike, which he takes as a compliment (and a good laugh).

Early in his career, Dustin built a strong reputation as a results-driven Project Manager known for clear communication and meticulous attention to detail. Homeowners appreciate his ability to explain the process in a straightforward way, anticipate challenges before they become issues, and keep projects organized and moving forward. He understands that a renovation isn’t just a construction project but also happening around real life. That’s why he places so much emphasis on transparency, timelines, and keeping clients informed every step of the way.

In recent years, Dustin has focused his expertise on what he enjoys most: partnering directly with homeowners to help them design and plan outdoor spaces that truly fit their lifestyle. From the initial consultation and design conversations to day-to-day jobsite oversight, Dustin is involved and the primary contact throughout the entire process. He helps clients think through the details that matter, such as layout, flow, materials, function, and long-term durability. This way, the final space isn’t just beautiful, but practical and built to last. His goal is always the same: a smooth, well-managed experience and an outdoor living space that exceeds expectations.

Dustin attended West Hills High School in Santee and continues to call San Diego home. He lives in Spring Valley with his wife and spends as much time as possible outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and exploring the natural beauty of Southern California. When he’s not on a jobsite or meeting with clients, you might find him playing guitar and unwinding with music.

Whether he’s guiding the design of a new backyard transformation or ensuring every last detail is completed to a high standard, Dustin brings the same commitment to craftsmanship, communication, and customer experience that SD Premier Outdoor is known for.
